Apoptosis Antibodies

Apoptosis is the process of programmed cell death. It is an energy-dependent biochemical process that is vital to typical cell turnover, hormone-dependent atrophy, proper development and functioning of the immune system, embryonic development, and chemical-induced cell death.

During apoptosis, distinct morphological characteristics occur, including cell shrinkage, blebbing, nuclear and DNA fragmentation (karyorrhexis), and chromatin condensation (pyknosis). There are two major cellular signaling pathways that orchestrate the apoptotic process - intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic apoptosis is triggered by stimuli causing DNA damage or metabolic stress, while extrinsic apoptosis is triggered by signaling through death receptors. SouthernBiotech offers a variety of primary antibodies that can be used to study various targets along the apoptosis pathway. Our apoptosis antibodies are produced and validated in-house for flow cytometry, western blot, and immunohistochemistry assays.
