MMP Antibodies

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of at least 23 structurally related, zinc-containing enzymes that have the ability to break down connective tissue.

  • MMP-1 has shown substrate specificity to collagen types I, II, III, VII, VIII, X, and XI as well as additional extracellular matrix components including gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycan.
  • MMP-2, along with MMP-9, belongs to the gelatinase group of MMP’s which have three repeats of a type II fibronectin domain inserted in the catalytic domain. MMP-2 has shown specificity to breakdown collagen types I, II, and III as well as the extracellular matrix component aggrecan.
  • MMP-3 has specificity to collagen types I, II, III, IV, VI, IX, X, and XIV as well as additional extracellular matrix components including gelatin, fibronectin, aggrecan, and perlecan.
  • MMP-9 degrades collagen types IV, V, XI, and XIV as well as additional extracellular matrix components including gelatin, elastin, vitronectin, and laminin.

All of our anti-MMP antibodies are produced and validated in-house to ensure they will meet your microscopy, ELISA, and western blot needs.
